Round 1 vs Zoro 🔴 Victory (1-0)
Given 🎲
Result: Lost
Exit: Second
My opening hand was very solid, with a good number of search cards and blockers that allowed me to stop his strategy. My opponent spent two "Moles" on the Cavendish and Carrot cards, leaving him without an answer by the time I played my 8-card Kid. This forced him to rely on the top deck for four consecutive turns without drawing any relevant cards. Eventually, I managed to gradually win the game.
Round 2 vs Whitebeard 🔴 Victory (2-0)
Given 🎲
Result: Won
Exit: Second
The matchup was very favorable to my Bonney deck, so the game didn't have many highlights. The combination of Carrot and my leader didn't allow it to exert enough pressure. A Hody finished the game off, giving me the win.
Round 3 vs BeloBetty 🔴 🟡Victory (3-0)
Given 🎲
Result: Won
Exit: Second
My hand was excellent, while my opponent had a pretty poor opening. He discarded two Koala C2000 cards early to search with the stage. When I played my 8-card Kid, he had no way to counter it, which led him to concede the game.
Round 4 vs Bonney 🟢 Victory (4-0)
Given 🎲
Result: Won
Exit: First
My cards fell in a perfect curve, allowing me to quickly dominate the game. There wasn't much else to report.
Round 5 vs Lim 🟢 🟣 Loss (4-1)
Given 🎲
Result: Lost
Exit: Second
The game lasted barely five minutes, and I lost quickly. I hadn't studied the matchup well, and my opponent had some techs that caused a lot of damage. His mastery of the deck and the way he approached the game were key to his victory.
Round 6 vs Buggy 🔵 Defeat (4-2)
Given 🎲
Result: Won
Exit: First
My opening hand looked decent, with Tashigi, Carrot, Hody, a blocker , and a 2000 counter . However, the subsequent draws and life cards were all uncountered , and I couldn't get them down. I ended the game with 1 life and 9-10 cards in hand, but only 2000 counters . Despite the matchup being very favorable and having studied it well, I ended up losing.
Round 7 vs Luffy 🔵 🟣 Victoria (5-2)
Given 🎲
Result: Lost
Exit: Second
The game went smoothly. He ramped twice, while I used Tashigi and Cavendish. On his 9-turn, Don played Katakuri. My response was to drop an 8-turn Kid, and on his next turn, he played Big Mom. I attacked to see if he would block, which he did, and I landed a 9-turn Shanks on the Katakuri, which put me in a very advantageous position. Several turns passed, and I managed to play another Shanks and exerted pressure that he couldn't withstand.
Round 8 vs Zoro & Sanji 🟢 🔵 Victoria (6-2)
Given 🎲
Result: Lost
Exit: Second
I hadn't prepared this matchup at all, and although I assumed it was very favorable for me, my opponent played extremely aggressively. I was on the verge of losing, but I had to make a lethal attack with a Seeker Bonney, my leader, and a 9-card Shanks. I needed to take two of his life with only four cards in hand. Fortunately, my opponent didn't have a good draw, and I was able to steal the victory.
TOP 16
I finished the first day in 16th position, which qualified me for the first round of the top 16, where I faced Manu ( Lim 🟢 🟣 ). Since he had finished first in the Swiss phase, he chose the die and I was second.
-
First game: It was fairly even. I found myself in the ideal position of leaving my opponent top-deck while I had an 8-card Kid on the board, but I made a serious mistake that he was able to punish, resulting in my loss.
-
Game 2: I went first and was able to comfortably set up a 9 Zoro, securing my victory.
-
Third game: I started off well, but my opponent managed to fill the table, and I couldn't handle the pressure, thus losing the match (1-2).
This is another tournament where I finished in the top 16. Despite the loss, I'm very happy with my result. In my opinion, the format is quite difficult, as it requires dodging unfavorable matchups and a good dose of luck. Still, I had a great time at the tournament; the crowd was very nice, and the event overall was very entertaining.
I'd like to express my gratitude to the entire Córdoba community for their support and for helping me test. In particular, to Roberto and Rafa, who helped me the previous evening study the matchup and prepare how to play against him in the top flight . If I hadn't made any mistakes, I might have won, but you never know. Finally, I want to thank Woiram for his trust and for giving me this opportunity to compete and showcase my level of play.
